Artificial intelligence can design buildings, write essays and build businesses. It has the potential to shape the world. And the world is shaping itself around this potential. The World Economic Forum’s Future of Job’s Report found that there is an unprecedented transformation of traditional career paths because of the rapid evolution of technology.  So what skills will children need by 2030?

Well, according to Anastasia Petrova, Founder of the Metasouls platform, the answer is building the skills that allow children to work with technology. “The skills for the future rest in young hands that can communicate clearly with technologies like AI and use them to do so much more than we can envision today.”

“It is a shift in how work is done. Traditional career paths are being redirected at remarkable speeds. However, the emerging picture isn’t one of humans versus machines but people working with sophisticated systems to build the future,” she adds.

From coders to communicators

What does the doctor of tomorrow look like? They’ll have exceptional medical knowledge as well as superb English-speaking skills so they can collaborate with patients and colleagues globally. Their proficiency with digital solutions will mean they can deftly use AI-powered diagnostics and communication tools.

And this isn’t unique to medicine. According to Anastasia, in the future, people will “coordinate and control, not actually complete tasks”. Programmers, said the CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, will no longer code, they’ll simply say something to their computer.

“What’s really interesting is that communication will also become an essential skillset. The ability to articulate ideas clearly, particularly in English, will become as valuable as coding skills are today,” Anastasia adds.

The language of innovation

English has become so much more significant than just being the world’s most spoken language.

“The infrastructure of technology is built on English foundations,” explains Anastasia. “AI models like ChatGPT, Gemini and DeepSeek are primarily trained on English data and a significant percentage of scientific research and technical documentation is also published in English. As a result, for children growing up today, English is fast becoming the interface they will need to engage with the professional tools of the future”.

Living in tomorrow, today

To help parents and children explore future-proof pathways based on personality traits rather than rigid job titles, Novakid has developed an interactive career quiz that not only guides parents on how traditional roles are changing but also shows how personality-aligned skills will remain invaluable across industries and technologies.

The World Economic Forum report believes that 97 million new jobs will appear by 2040. What will these be? What will they need?

Anastasia notes that those who thrive will have mastery of three core skillsets:

  • Fluency in AI – not coding but collaborating
  • Cross-disciplinary thinking – combining AI with healthcare or psychology with robotics
  • Emotional intelligence – these are distinctly human skills AI cannot replicate

Parents preparing their children for this future need to focus less on specific career paths and more on building adaptability, joy in technology, the ability to communicate clearly and English proficiency.

“Whether your child becomes an AI ethics specialist or a biotech innovator or a creator in a field that hasn’t been imagined yet, their success will hinge on how well they can communicate with the world”, concludes Anastasia.
