Hi! I was wondering, if you could give us a hand. My son is having some trouble with on complex sentences, and I’m not sure how to guide him. Could you possibly explain it in a way that might click with him?

Complex sentences can seem tricky, but they’re really just sentences that have more than one part. Here’s a simple way to think about them:
- The main part is like the big piece of bread. It’s strong and can be on its own.
- For example: “The dog runs.”
- The extra part is like the peanut butter or jelly. It’s yummy, but it needs the bread to be a whole sandwich. It can’t be on its own because it’s missing something important.
- For example: “Because it’s happy.”
So when you put them together, it’s like making a sandwich: “Because it’s happy, the dog runs.” The extra part needs the main part to make sense, just like peanut butter needs bread to be a complete sandwich!
