Gerund Phrase Examples for childern
Good evening, My daughter has an assignment on gerund phrases, and we're a little confused about how to identify them in sentences. Could you possibly share a few examples or tips that might help her understand better?

Hello! This is a great question!

Gerunds are relatively easy to identify - They are verbs which have 'ing' added to them, and that makes them function as a noun in a sentence. Gerund phrases are groups of words that begin with a gerund - For example: 'I love playing football' or 'Playing football is my favorite sport' - in both these examples, 'playing football' is the gerund phrase and functions as a noun in the sentence.
Be careful though, because in Present Continuous sentences the verb also gets 'ing' added on to it, but it stays functioning as a verb - for example, 'I am playing football right now'. Present Continuous sentences are sentences that explain actions happening in the moment.

I hope that these examples help your daughter a bit.
