Possessive Form of Nouns with Example
Greetings to you, dohaxi_poly.
The possessive form of a noun is used to show possession, ownership, or another form of association of a noun to other words in a sentence. It is usually made by adding an apostrophe-s ('s) after a noun.
Examples:
1. Alan's computer (singular noun + 's + noun)
> My computer broke down yesterday so I am using Alan's computer today.
2. The horses' hooves (plural noun + apostrophe + noun)
> The horses' hooves are noisily going down the pavement around the plaza.
3. The teacher's new smartphone (noun + 's + adjective + noun)
> The teacher's new smartphone isn't working after it fell down the stairs earlier.
4. Ryan's and Cathy's moms (two nouns that relate to different things)
> Ryan's and Cathy's moms studied at the same university.
5. Ana and Amy's mom (two nouns that relate to the same thing)
> Ana and Amy's mom works as a doctor at the nearby hospital.
