What is a descriptive phrases for "One Type of Freshwater Wetland"?
Good day, Jorge Antonio.
There are four main types of freshwater wetlands: marshes, bogs, fens, and swamps.
"MOST PRODUCTIVE” is a phrase you can use to describe marshes. Marshes are filled with nutrients that make them suitable for plants to grow up through the water. Because of this, marshes are also home to many species of birds, snakes, and toads.
Oh the other hand, bogs are "low nutrient". This type of wetland's water source is the rain. Because of this, it is characterized by having acidic water and low level of nutrients that are needed for plant growth. Theyprovide important benefits in a watershed, including preventing or reducing the risk of floods.
"Peat-forming wetlands" is how we can describe fens. Unlike bogs, this type of wetland not only get its water from precipitation but from groundwater as well. This made the water in fens less acidic and more nutrient that can support plants and animal communities. Over time, peat may build up to separate the fen from its groundwater supply.
Lastly, we have the "woody wetlands". Swamps are wetlands dominated with shrubs or trees. Their saturated organic soil made it possible for trees such as cypress and cedars to thrive in this wet environment.
