"Cut Time": Double the Speed of Musical Tempo

In music notation, "cut time" is a meter indication that instructs performers to play or conduct the music at twice the speed of the original tempo.

It is denoted by the symbol 2/2 and is also known as "alla breve." Essentially, "cut time" reduces the number of beats per measure, typically halving the duration of note values.

This adjustment creates a livelier and more energetic feel to the music, often used for fast-paced or lively compositions.

I hope this helps!
