Hello Fatima. Thank you for the good question.

The word "pronunciation" refers to the way a word/letter sounds and/or the way it is said. In English, letters can be said or "pronounced" in different ways. For instance the letter "c" can be said/pronounced as a hard 'k' sound (cat) or a soft "s" sound (circle). Here is another example: The word "read" can be said/pronounced in two different ways. When used in the present tense it will be pronounced the same as the word "reed" (I often read a book), but in the past tense it will be pronounced the same as the word "red" (I read a book yesterday).

I really hope that these examples help you in your understanding of "pronunciation".
